Employer Lunch and Learn:  Second Chance Initiative
How it Can Help You Fill Jobs

Struggling to fill jobs?
United Way of Rutherford County invites you to a free Employer Lunch and Learn Workshop on January 22, 2020 from 12pm-2pm. This workshop will be held at Isothermal Community College in the new Engineering Technology and Workforce Development Building room 215. You must RSVP by calling United Way at (828) 286-3929.

So why should you attend?
You have jobs. We have people who need jobs. But they’re often underemployed because some employers might feel hesitant about hiring someone with a criminal record.  Here’s your chance to learn about special incentives for hiring applicants with a criminal record. You could be eligible for:  Work Opportunity Tax Credits, the Federal Bonding Program, and Certificates of Relief.

We’re bringing in the experts!
We want to make sure you have the best information possible. Our special guest speakers can answer all of your questions about Second Chance Initiatives and fair hiring practices.

To help explain those programs and answer all your questions about equal opportunity employment, we have two highly knowledgeable guest speakers:

  • Janie Rollins, Regional Reentry Specialist North Carolina Department of Commerce
  • Attorney Daniel Bowes, Director of the Fair Chance Criminal Justice Project at the North Carolina Justice Center.
